When you think of it hot cross buns are to Easter, what Turkey is to Christmas, yet there are many other delicious foods that become more popular at this time of the year. Here at Arbutus Hospitality, we will have a look at the many different tasty treats that are sure to fill our appetite this Easter.

As the weather has started to change, we can almost feel a slight hint of Spring. The excitement of the beautiful flower displays amongst thousands of gardens. The smell of fresh cut grass is almost within sight, it has seriously got us thinking about all things Easter related.

From the scrumptious Simnel Cake to our mouth-watering Roast Lamb on Easter Sunday, what more could you wish for this Easter? To get you in the spring feeling we have a delicious recipe for Chocolate Easter Egg nest cakes. This little recipe is a simple and quick one for the children to get involved in also.

Chocolate Easter Egg nest cake

The Ingredients you will need;

225g plain chocolate, broken into pieces

2 tbsp golden syrup

50g butter

75g cornflakes (shredded wheat or puffed rice cereals can be substituted)

36 mini chocolate eggs

Method

Line a 12-hole fairy cake tin with paper cases.

Melt the chocolate, golden syrup and butter in a bowl over a pan of simmering water without letting the bowl’s base touch the water.

Stir the mixture until smooth.

Remove the bowl from the heat and stir the cornflakes in gently until all of the cereal is coated.

Pour the mixture into the paper cases.

Press three chocolate eggs into the center of each “nest”.

Allow to chill in the fridge for one hour, or until completely set.
