Christmas Buffet Basics
With Christmas just around the corner, the decor pouring into the shops and we have just launched our Christmas brochure (view here) we thought it would be the perfect time to do a little post about Christmas buffet ideas.
If you are you planning a Christmas family get together before Christmas or indeed want to put a creative spin on Christmas dinner, then read on for our 3 top tips that will ensure you have the buffet basics covered.
The idea of a buffet is that people can pick and choose what they like, so it's always best to have a variety of options. It also is less stressful on the host as people tend to plate their own food at a buffet.
1. Pigs in a blanket
Pigs in blankets are the ultimate roast dinner side, made with crispy streaky bacon wrapped around a mini chipolata. In our experience, they are very popular with all members of the family, so make plenty. Add flavours such as Caramelised onions, chutneys or fresh herbs.
2. Chicken
Whether it is chicken wings, goujons or nuggets/ You can't go wrong with a helping of chicken in a buffet spread. Think small and bite-sized and you're sure to please especially when there are flavourings on top such as sweet chilli. Chicken also goes down a treat with the children, so it is a crowd pleaser all around.
3. Vegetarians and salad lovers
Whether you've got vegetarian friends, fussy eaters or family members who are trying to be healthy, it's always best to serve some veggies at your buffet. Choose vegetables that are bright and vibrant in colour and you're guests are more likely to eat them. A great salad to offer is apple and walnut. This is great at any time of the year but we especially love this at Christmas.
